Victoria Burge

VB_DRAWING_WEB.jpg

Victoria Burge, an artist based in New Hampshire, works primarily in drawing and sculpture and consistently uses printmaking in her studio practice. For this suite of lithographs, we used both photolithography, creating layered drawings directly onto drafting film, but this was her first time creating a litho on limestone. The drafting film allowed for her precise and intricate drawing style, while she utilized the softness of the litho pencils and the immediacy of the medium to create a much more unpredictable and intuitive type of webbed drawing of a variety of textured net like forms.

She has work in major collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Philadephia Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the British Museum. She has received the Pollack Krasner Foundation Grant, a fellowship from the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, as well as the MacDowell Colony fellowship. She has had recent exhibitions at Planthouse Gallery, NYC as well as the Print Center, Philadephia.
