Gérard Garouste

Gérard Garouste (b. 1946) is one of the most important contemporary French artists whose work shifts seamlessly between painting, printmaking, and sculpture. His work delves into the psychological, allegorical, and mythical explorations of his life, past and present often referencing Biblical stories and Hebrew texts. He is a member of the Academie des Beaux Arts and is the founder of l'Association La Source, an educational and social action group to help under privileged children have access to art education taught by professional artists. His work has been shown worldwide, notably a retrospective of his life's work at Centre Pompidou, Paris in 2022. He lives and works in Normandy and Paris and shows with Galerie Templon.
